REGLATORY ALERTS

The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 (“UIGEA” or the “Act”) was signed into law as Title VIII of the Security and Accountability for Every Port Act of 2006 (SAFE Port Act), on October 13, 2006.  As required, Urban Trust Bank will begin enforcing the requirements of this regulation effective July 1, 2010.

This regulation requires Urban Trust Bank to “block” or “reject” deposit or credit transactions for commercial accounts associated with unlawful internet gambling to ensure that the account owner does not receive the proceeds of unlawful internet gambling.  Unlawful internet gambling means to place, receive or otherwise knowingly transmit a bet or wager by any means that involves the use, at least in part, of the Internet where the bet or wager is unlawful under any applicable federal or state law in the state or tribal lands in which the bet or wager is initiated, received or otherwise made.  It does not include placing, receiving, or otherwise transmitting a bet or wager that is excluded from the definition of this term by the Act as an intrastate transaction or an intra-tribal transaction, and does not include any activity that is allowed under the Interstate Horseracing Act of 1978. Additional information about this regulation is available.

By continuing to maintain an account with the Bank, you agree not to engage in illegal Internet gambling and to advise Urban Trust Bank if your account is ever used in connection with any form of Internet gambling, even if you believe that it is legal. If you anticipate that The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 will affect your account, please contact us immediately.
